We have made it to Las Vegas, As I type now I am sitting in the press office at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Microsoft has a HUGE pressense here, they have their own buildings for Windows Vista and another seperate building just for Windows Media 11.

In my hotel room I have ZERO internet access. I am staying at Circus Circus where the TV only gets 6 channels and 3 of them are channels advertising Circus Circus.

I am downloading AOL to my laptop now so I can connect in from my hotel room.

I will be headed to the XM Booth in a bit for their press conference, I understand they are introducing two new portable XM Radios.

More later!

Have fun, Scott!

As I discovered staying at a Casino Hotel near Chicago, the idea is that you don't go to Vegas and stay in your room all the time. They want you out of the room and in their casino! Hence, crappy cable and no Internet. Wouldn't want you gambling at some off-shore site, now would they?

Maybe Wild Blue is at the show and would be willing to set you up with a temporary dish in your hotel room?

I tried to warn you months ago that Circus Circus was a dump!!! But have fun, and keep us posted!

Actually the room is very nice. Just the cable and Interrnet stinks. :D

Looks like they just did a remodel here. :D

Scott- I'm at the Manor area of CC and I have Verizon EVDO wireless broadband internet. Doing about 900kbs download speed with no problems. If you have a need to do some broadband connection give me a call. I believe you have my cell phone number. I will have my PDA on the show floor which is only T-mobile and can get e-mail instant notice. dlandis@scubatech.com

Tom-

Been staying at CC for years of convention going. It is not as fancy as Belagio, MGM, Luxor, or the Hilton etc but I prefer it for these reasons-
Room rates at 25% the other Convention hotels.
I can park my car within 200 ft of the room and that is 200 ft from the Bus stop for the convention.

Food is terrible at CC but I don't eat the buffet here, Riviera is across the street and a much better deal. Only the Mexican Restaurant is safe to eat and again, it is not expensive.

Who watches TV in LV anyway? I only use it for express checkout.

Oh yes, for internet travelers- Best not to depend on Hotel service. Usually terrible everywhere and unpredictable. T-Mobile EDGE is OK, Verizon EVDO is just like DSL at home only more reliable!

The reason there is bad TV and not readily accessable internet is because they do not want you in your room, they want you in the casino.
I was at a convention and they gave us maps to the varius funtions, every route went through the casino.
I do not blame them it is how they make their money.

My Gambling habit-

I throw quarters in a box all year long. Then when I come here, I bring them with me, that is what's left after my wife raids the sack! :(

Last year I got to bring 21.00 in quarters and played the slotts. at the end of the week, I had $67.00 :)

Buit adding up all the years, I've been doing this, I think I'm in the hole about a hundred bucks in quarters.

Do you think that qualifies me as a whale worthy of a penthouse suite?

BTW- on Monday, when my wife raided my quarters box, she got 38.00 and I got 6.75. She says I have to save those "state quarters" Does she know something I don't? Anyway, my tech toys habit is worse than my gambling habit.

People are trying to save one of each new state quarter as the "tails" part of the coin is different for each state that they have been trickling out the past few years.....

I still have a few of the old Bicentennial quarters, but they don't seem to be fetching too muchof a premium that I am aware of...
