It is more about the end of an era. It is kind of like Stockholm syndrome, where many endured for a long time and miss the suffering when it is gone.

Some are already mourning the passing of DBS, and it hasn't happened yet.
You said it was humor for some, sadness for others. When I pointed out how few were actually affected, you changed the subject.

I didn't change the subject at all. You don't have to be actively using something to lament its passing (impending or bygone).

For further evidence of this, consider all the posters whinging about the shortcomings of cloud DVRs and the demise of Harmony remotes.

A better question would be how do you become a supporting founder?
A Supporting Founder is a member who was around from the beginning. I forget if it was a year or maybe two. It was Scott's way of thanking those early birds for their support in the beginning. Supporting founders saw no ads. Later Scott added Lifetime Supporter memberships as was addressed earlier. Lifetime Supporters get no ads either just like Supporters. Because I was here on day one I was given Supporting Founder. Later when Lifetime Supporter became available I became that as well even though I didn't get ads to begin with. I have also donated to the site on a regular basis because I believe in it even though I get no ads anyway.

Sigh.
