Have these movies been broadcast in HD ?

- Independence Day
- One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
- Citizen Kane
- Gandhi
- Apocalypse Now
- How the West Was Won

(if you remember the channel, even better, thanks!)

Independence Day --- Fox, HBO,
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - Hdnet movies, maybe other...
Apocalypse Now -- hdnet movies, filmfest, showtime...

A few more:

- Unforgiven
- Fight Club
- Fifth Element

and does one particular channel show the Lord of the Rings HD (in a similar way that HBO/Cinemax show Star Wars) ? Is it Extended Editions ?

Unforgiven --- I have seen in a premium channel a long time ago. I do not think they have shown it again.

Fifth Element --- TNT has aired lots of time

I watched Gandhi not too long ago :up
Don't remember which channel, that was.

The Fifth Element was also shown on HBO or some other premium HD channel in the past.

I think pretty much all movies that you mentioned were shown in HD at one time or another, except perhaps for Citizen Kane.

Apocalypse Now only in "Redux". Don't remember seeing the original version.

Starz did show all of the lords of the rings in hd, however i havent seen them on there in awhile.

How about:

- Woodstock
- Monterey Pop

or any other films with Jimi Hendrix? Or any Doors concert docs/films?

PS Yes, "Festival Express" and "The Kids Are Alright" were just shown and "A Hard Days Night" is scheduled for a week from now. But that is the only 50's/60's/70's music films I've seen shown in HD...
