HBO Keeps Fighting Standalone Streaming Option But Admits Game Of Thrones Needs Quicker Availabilit

I would have figured streaming was a win-win for HBO and others. Instead of folks paying 18$ a month for the channel, their paying 12$ monthly just for one series (2.99$ x 4 episodes per month).

Cheers, K

Game of Thrones is good, especially if you like fantasy. A lot of the major plots from the book series are in the HBO series but, of course, a lot of the minor stuff from the books is left out. HBO could do better in this department but that would probably make the series drag a little bit. There is enough material in the books to run a 10-year series with at least 20 episodes per season. The books are very dialog-rich. Lots of sequences in the books that covered a lot of pages got little time in the series while stuff that only got a page or two in the books, like the tournament at King's Landing, got a whole episode in the series. I'm actually going back and re-reading the first two books since it has been a while.

The problem with people thinking HBO should offer an OTT service- has anyone thought about how many people would cancel their subscription at the of the season of Game of Thrones (then sign back up before new season)? The business would crumble..
