HD receiver question

I'm new to the DirecTV/HD scene - I have a question about using a Samsung TIR 360 HD receiver. I am thinking of using this with DirecTV service, and was wondering if the same receiver is used for regular non HD TV as well, or is a seperate receiver required?

I'm thinking that it does, but I want to make sure before I set up an appointment with DirecTV to come install the dish...

Yes it does both, and there are other receiver options as well that do also; some may be a bit better.
