A friend of mine has finally enter the world of HD TV. He called DirectV and they told him he would have to pay over $200 for an HD receiver to replace his old one. His plan now is to just switch to Dish because he can get the receiver free from them. Is Direct not offering a free conversion receiver to existing customers?

Like Dish, Directv offers better deals to new customers. BTW, the $200 offer would have been for an hd dvr, not just a receiver.
If your friends commitment is near end with D*, Tell D* your thinking about getting HD, and E* is offering 3 HD rooms for free, What can you do.?
