hello i would like to know if a gdtv receiver that i just purchased thru dtv can be disconnected and connected on another account? i ask becasue the person that i brought this for does not ever watch any of the hdtv channels anyways . but i was wondering wether dtv would see this as a problem , since they required a new 12 month contract.
thanks
jose

The contract is for programming not equipment. As long as programming is kept active at the initial place you should be OK.

Move the equipment wherever you want to.

This brings up an interesting possibility: if my friend/family member is thinking of getting directv, I could have them get the $699 HD DirecTivo deal on Ebay, then sell me the receiver for $699. When combined with the DirecTV credit, it would be a decent price.

I'd beware of this particular retailer that is selling on Ebay (minidishes.tv)
I've had some problems with them. Extremely rude and I wouldn't trust them with my money.
