I am an HDTV beginner. I currently have Directv with a triple LNB. I know I need the HD receiver box. Is one better than another? I also live about 30 miles from the towers but I have some radio towers close to the house. Does a cheapy $30.00 antenna work just as well as a $150.00 Winegard antenna? I read that Directv could/would provide antenna . Any help would be appreciated.

Check out www.antennaweb.org for your OTA locations etc. You need to know what frequencies your stations are using to determine which antenna will work best. DirecTV may supply the antenna, but it may not work very well. Currently, DirecTV is supplying the Samsung SIR TS360 HD receiver.

I just loooked up mine and I'm in red. I even added things in my way to see if I needed a better antenna. I'm 16 miles away from my worst tower (channels I want to pick up)
