I am a directv customer and just purchased an hdtv antenna. Obviously I do not know much about this but I would like to mount my antenna in place of the direct tv dish and use the existing coax into my house. There are two coax cables attached to my dish that run to a box in my basement. Which cable do I use to hook to my antenna?

I would suggest short out one of them.(the shielding to the inner copper conductor) Get a simple continuity checker. the one that is shorted will show up...Hook that one to OTA antenna. Mark that coax with some tape so it will be identified easy, for the next time.

You also need to get a 75:300 ohm balun and mount it in between the antenna and the coax, although if your antenna has a connector that the coax can directly screw onto, then the balun is probably built in.
