Currently I have two receivers, an HR54-700 in the living room and an HR24-500 in the bedroom. What I am wondering is ... if I wanted to replace one of these receivers with one that had wireless capabilities to occasionally take in the weight room. What all would this entail, would it be just an upgrade on one receiver, is there any additional equipment needed, or any additional requirements? I have been a customer since 1999 and haven't upgraded anything in quite awhile. Thanks.

Seeing you have a Genie HR54, I would contact D* and get a Wireless Client to go along with your HR54 and HR24.
You already have the right stuff to do it.

The Genie isn't new, but its not THAT old .... you had to upgrade to get the Genie.
As long as you don't need 4k in the weight room.
The 4k client isn't wireless capable.

Your other option would be to replace the HR24 with the wireless client, but I wouldn't suggest doing that as you'll lose 2 tuners to record with as all your recordings then would be tied strictly to the HR54 ...

Most people the number of items you can record at once isn't an issue, some people it is.

Thanks for the reply. I am the only one in the house that watches regular programming so the tuner issue shouldn't be a problem so replacing a current client with a wireless one would be perfect but I thought I read somewhere that Dtv required you to have at least two seperate clients before allowing a wireless. I definitely do not need three.

Hmmm,
I have never heard that before, but I've also never asked for a wireless client ...
