I have looked all over the internet and I cant seem to be able to find a HDTV that fits my situation. Here are the requirements
25-29 inch crt/ rear projection/ dlp
has to have 1080p
has to have DVI-D
and heres the kicker that screws me over... It has to be under 350 dollars. Ive found them for 500 but I cant get it any lower. So Im here to ask you all to help me out.

reasons for about requirements...
Fits in my entertainment center / cost less then lcd/plasmas
For the PS3
For the PS3
I cant talk my parents into anything higher.

damn, would 1080i be ok for that size screen?

It would be better than fine in my opinion. I have simple 27 and 32" non HD tvs and they are MUCH clearer than any big screen 1080p DLP. Plasma is the only thing that can beat them

Cost is going to be your other problem, best thing to do is start looking at craigslist.com for your area for used sets, if it doesnt have the dvi-d connection you might be able to get an adapter for it. Save your money though and go for something bigger and something that will have a warranty ( IE new at the store ), keep in mind that you get what you pay for and buying used is a gamble.

Don't compare SD on the 27 to SD on the DLP. If you are going to compare the two tvs, compare something in HD to your 27. I have a 61" Samsung 1080p HDTV that you would swear you could reach into and touch when it is displaying something in HD or an upconverted DVD. But it just looks okay when the source material is SD.

ALso, the XBOX 360 is amazing on it.

I don't think you are going to find a DLP in that size. It is probably going to have to be LCD or CRT. 1080i is going to look good. You probaby will not even be able to tell the difference. The hard part is going to be the price.

Your options are LCD or CRT direct view sets. If CRT, then Sony or Panasonic are best. Or last year's Toshibas (they now outsource their tube production to Orion and they are not as good). Do not go with the new flatter CRT tube from Samsung as it has significant geometry errors.

LCD is dropping rapidly in price in that range. Hard to keep up with it. Sales are booming world-wide on sub-30" LCD HD.

Whatever you do, buy the biggest quality set you can fit into your space and afford.

I was comparing SD on my 27 to HD on all the 1080p DLPs. I was looking at a top of the line 50" Sony SXRD 1080p with OTA CBS HD and also HD DirectTV. In some scenes it was a little clearer, but it general it was fuzzier than a tube tv. Now when I looked at plasmas, they were CERTAINLY clearer than any other set. No comparison there.

Why do you need 1080p now? I don't believe anyone is broadcasting in that format. Are you just planning ahead? There are plenty of 1080i sets in that size range.

1080p=ps3 in fall of 2006 so yes I'am planning ahead. I think I wil go w/ 1080i because of how small the screen size is. I just go a new entrtainment center and I dont want to get a new one. and as you can tell from the Pics I need a bigger TV :( , If Im upgrading to a bigger tv might as well make it HD. right?

PS. Ive blown out windows w/ those speakers :) :)

Make sure you check the depth before buying a crt. Many entertainment centers can't take tvs (besides lcd) anywhere near the size of the opening because they're not deep enough.

If its not deep enogh Ill cut off the back (most of it is off) and move the center forward. Then it will fit
