Help with 5lnb aiming

when using the dithering method of aiming the dish how far should the signal drop on the 101 after you set it on the highest possible signals and then dither it. couldnt i just set 101 at the highest signal then move to the 99 sat meter and adjust according to it? i am having real problems finding the hd sats. ive replaced the b band converters and that did not help. i have high 90s to 100 on the 103 sat. my recv. is a hr22 my dish is set right at the edge of my eve of the roof. would moving it out from the edge help with the alignment?
