HIC vs ethernet

When my 2 HWS & 1 Joey system was installed tech had no clue & did not turn on bridging so my joey had no internet. He then had to return & installed an HIC. Once I realized the simple fix, all worked & I removed the HIC. Is there any advantage to using the HIC vs wireless or ethernet?

I don't think there is any advantage between the HIC and being hardwired with Ethernet but both are the better option over Wireless.

thanks, knew you'd know since you use one! one less thing to have plugged in to power, as Ethernet seems to work just fine.

I have my router and Joey next to each other so it was easy to put the HIC right there. There was no setup involved it just connected everything in my system to the internet. It's a pretty handy device if if can fit in the system.

I use my HIC in reverse to provide Ethernet connectivity to my NAS over MoCA.

Does the Wi-Fi built in to the HWS eliminate the need for an HIC?

I wonder if there's a performance degradation in the Hopper, which is not as fast as it was, having to use the second NIC when it's bridged and acting as a HIC?
