I currently have a satellite subscription in portugal and i was told that i could buy a dish and hook up my portuguese receiver and it would work. My question is this possible? If so, which dish must i buy?

Not only are you out of range, I'm guessing you have a Meo or Canal package and unfortunately many of their programs are not available on any US satellite providers. Best option is to find a stream for your favorite programs via the internet.
