I cutoff the plastic piece and the installer tried it. It fits but he could not receive both satellites, only one or the other so had to switch out the 1000.4 for the 1000.2.

You don't need to cut off the plastic part. There is bolts.
They are made to be interchanged.

I meant the little plastic tab on the EA 1000.4 interfering with the new LNBF.
