Is anyone else having an issue with the Joey 3 install? For some reason we have a Hopper 3 that has the U348 software and will not update to the newest U502 software update. Does anyone know how to force the Hopper 3 to update so the Joey 3s can connect?

Make sure the Joey is unplugged, no recordings happening and put the hopper in standby emergency mode, meaning power off, leave the tv on so you can see when it starts to download. When it’s done it will go back to standby mode and let it sit for about 15 minutes, then power it up hit the home button on your remote until you get to the diagnostic screen and make sure that Joey software shows U550. That’s the Joey three software version that needs to be on the hopper

After speaking with a CSR from DASH, she said the same thing and and to leave the Hopper in standby mode for 30 minutes, but it never did update. I did a factory reset to get it back to the download portion of the instal but it's still did not download any updates and remains on the U348 software.

It’s getting good signal on all stats? Western arc downloads from the 119, eastern arc from the 61.5

Yes sir. Great signal. This was an upgrade from a working first series Hopper/Joey system with brand new Hybrid LNB (WA), Hybrid solo hub and Hopper 3.

Dish talked about delaying the initial update in the setup wizard until the first 1AM update. Which makes no sense, but how long has this been installed?

From your comments it seems that the HWS may need a similar software update to accommodate the Joey 3. Is that your understanding, or would the latest HWS update (U242) be sufficient? Yes, I know that currently Dish is only promoting the Joey 3 for use with the H3 but joey 3 specs indicate it's completely backwards compatible.

With the Hopper 3 on ( and Joey in standby), press the home button 3 times(this brings up the diagnostic menu), then scroll down to ‘tools’ and select ‘upgrade software’ on the bottom right. It will reboot shortly after and go to the standby screen. Leave it on that standby screen and after a couple minutes it will reboot and start downloading new software. After it’s done downloading it will reboot a couple times and eventually land on the standby screen. Leave it for 10-15 minuets like that to be sure it’s done and then go back to the diagnostic screen(home button 3 times) and it should show the latest software. If that don’t work you will need a tech to come out.

Edit: newest software is U508 but U5xx will work.

The "Upgrade Software" option did not appear in the Tools menu of a H3 install I did yesterday. After putting it in "Standby", it attempted to download the new software 3 times (about an hour) before doing so successfully.

U550 has to be in the available Joey Software as shown on the Hopper system I do page

Thanks Kat. While my Joey 2 is obviously running on a lesser software release, my HWS indicates that U550 is available for the Joey. this seems to tell me I can replace the Joey 2 with the 3 and it should update itself.
