Hopper unable to handle 2 dish remotes

No, it's some specific command or something. It doesn't send a normal ir signal with a code like other remotes.

I'm sitting here with a 5.4 IR remote that works the Hopper in IR mode just fine. Am I missing something here?

Ditto, I have a 5.0 remote and it works just fine with IR mode with my Hopper WS.

@lucky86 is talking about the Dish basic remote, not any of the standard remotes that shipped with receivers. The basic was a "simplified" remote with fewer buttons. Evidently it doesn't use the standard Dish remote codes if @lucky86 is correct (I have no experience with it).

Pretty much any standard remote in TV1/IR mode from Dish going way-way-back should work with the Hopper - just might not have all the needed/wanted buttons.

the remote doesn't need to be close to pair. As long as you are within operating distance and system info is open, pressing sat should pair it

I've found I have trouble pairing remotes when I'm more than a few feet away from the box.
