Did Dish quit supporting the HopperGo? In looking at both the Hopper DVR timer settings and Dish Anywhere I no longer see the option to “Prepare for mobile” anywhere.

The Prepare for mobile option is still present.
1) Hit Home twice
2) Select Settings
3) Select DVR Timer Defaults
4) The third dialog box allows you to turn on or off Smart Prepare for Mobile

I imagine that many use their phone to transfer programs rather than using the Dish HopperGo.

I have wondered...

What does
'Prepare for mobile do'?

What might be advantage of having it off?
Less data storage if off?
Why would you not want it on?

Curious...

'Prepare for mobile' makes a separate copy of the show that is optimized for mobile devices. The file size, bitrate, and resolution are optimized for mobile devices.

If you are going to transmit copies of the show to your mobile devices, it saves time to leave it on. Then it will do that in the background and the show will be ready to transmit to your mobile device. If you are not going to transmit the show to a mobile device, it is better to leave it off so that you do not use processor time for nothing, and also take up extra space on your hard drive for a mobile copy that you will not ever use.
