How can I get Out of market .....

OK D* isn't giving me any Out of market locals, and OTA isn't an option because of a Dead Zone. And Moving isn't an option because I don't want to lose my current locals.

So Tell me guys, Do I put up a small FTA system?
Get a Dish Network Receiver and subscribe to All American Direct?


What can I do thats fairly cheap?

FTA wont work as the only locals are on C-Band and they are few and far between
(Puerto Rico mux which is the Big4 + CW and some CBS feeds from Washington State but they arent on all the time)

Best option would be get a used Dish receiver and get the 9.99 locals only plan

See, I wonder if I even have to subscribe to dish at all?

All American Direct, Just uses the Smart card number and/or R00 number.

Doesn't that mean these channels would still come in?

OK, but what if you want to use a DVR - how do you get the DVR enabled (excluding 501/508 receivers, of course) if you are NOT going thru DISH?

-go through AAD and you could get HD or SD...I think SD is San Fran & NY and HD is Chicago & LA
-go through Dish and you can get a nearby (spotbeam constraint) market for 9.99 and you'd get both SD & HD if the market is available. Or you could just get NY in SD through Dish for 9.99

as long as its a purple card and clean (no balance) you can start an account with no commitment

DVR is not an issue, so I'm not worried about that. Commitment yes , Don't want that!
SD is Fine HD is a Bonus.

AAD I can get SD East and West of the Big 4 for less then $15 per month.

I would rather not deal with charlie at all if I can avoid.

Update, I decided, to get NFL ST. So I guess, I'll live without them for now.
