After blind scanning with the Coolsat 5k, I find stuff that would be cool to view on a DVBWorld box. The DVBWorld box requires manual entry of parameters.

Sometimes Lyngsat has FEC info sometimes it doesn't. I can't find a way to look up FEC info through CS 5k menus.

I even tried selecting all of the possible FECs. It did not work. There must be a better way.

Is this one of those things that requires a Spectum Analyzer?

How do you determine FEC?

Are you sure that the DVBWorld box requires manual FEC entry?

Do you still have the 1020a card like your signature says? If so then you can use the 1020a card to look at the stream with TSReader or another program and get the bitrate. You can then calculate the FEC with that information.

The 5000 doesnt show FEC as its done automatically. Heck my 8000 requires FEC but I leave it to "auto" and it works pretty much all the time

Hmm.I'll have to check my CS6100 and see what it does.My Ultra's all show the FEC after a scan.Doesn't mean they are right but they show them lol.

The 1020a card is in a box somewhere. I will install it and try out TSReader. From info on the coolstf website, TSReader should work with the DVBWorld box. However, it looks like you have to screw around with drivers when you switch back and forth between the DVBWorld software and TS Reader.

Once I get the bitrate, how would I calculate the FEC? These links look applicable perhaps...

Anyway, attached is an example of the DVBW config screen to illustrate what has to be done.

You can use TheList_FEC_Calculator ;)

I never added it to TheList because it was never fully finished (Works perfectly for DVB-S) and most people don't need it.

I used it to get some FEC values that my BroadLogic card could not determine. FEC values will be on the next version of TheList once I finish it....... :)

NOTES: Symbol Rate is in kSym/s, Data Rate (Of the MUX) is in Mbps and FEC should be "?" because you want to calculate it.
(You can figure out one unknown (FEC, SR, DR) as long as you have two known values)
