Hi,

How can I tell if a fta receiver will control the motor on my dish?

What specification I should looking for?

Also How to tell from the specification that the receiver will have blind scan or not?

Thanks,

diseqc 1.2 is a motor control
diseqc 1.3 or USALS is another way...you put in your lat/long and the dish moves to the satellite...1.2 you need to manually set it up, but once its setup you're fine.

it should say blind scan or smart scan...automtic scan IS NOT blind scan

Does this one has blind scan? motor control?

Could somebody tell me if following specs of PanStar has blind scan and motor contorl?

Thanks,

Yeah, but that is a clone. All things being equal, it won't cost that much more for a real receiver.

Read PSB's review on the Fortec Classic NA. It has USALS and blind scan and can be found as cheap or cheaper than some clones.

Is there any real difference between a clone or a real receiver?

Sure one a a legit comany that provides some level of warranty and support the other is a thief playing you for a fool.

Do you really think it can be ugraded to be the exact same thing as two DIFFERENT receivers? I'll sell you a Yugo you can upgrade to either a Ford or a Chevy, your pick.

With some creative searching I found where I'm pretty sure you cut and paste that from. Their price for a clone is is only 10 bucks cheaper than you could buy a Classic NA from Sadoun.

(and with all due respect to Sadoun...) I found a local dealer who saved me a few bucks and I paid less for a better reciever that you would for that clone. -- EVEN IF you could upgrade it like they say.

Katrinasucks,

they sell for $99 including s/h for PanStar. Where can you find the local deal in us for Classic
NA in that range?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Granted I got a deal from a local guy but I paid a hair under that. Sadoun is only 129 and he is probably the biggest name out there. If you have a problem, you have someone who will answer the same phone number in 2 months.

It depends on what you value. If you want to gamble your money (and time) in the hopes you save a few bucks then have at it.

If every penny counts, check around you can get an NA for close to that price without too much effort.

And what is your time worth? If you waste (just) 3 hours of your life dinking around with a box nobody supports, did you save any money? (If you say yes, you are very very young;-) Read this board... It is full of people who have spent weeks trying to get off brand stuff working... How much money did they save? NONE.

Look- I don't make a penny either way- It's no hair off my nose... But think this thru and you'll realize it is false economy.

I'm just an old fart who's been down a few too many highways to buy snake oil. YMMV ;-)

I merged this with the other one you had about the same thing. Lets keep it in one.

Sure, you can buy a clone. But when it blows up because its made with cheap parts mainly used to hack stuff (and I am not accusing anyone of hacking) you get what you pay for. Plus E-Bay has a lot of bad sellers there. I have a clone receiver and it runs ungodly hot and reboots sometimes due to the heat. I got rid of it and got the real deal and it runs cool to the touch.

I would order from a reputable dealer that would support the item if there is an issue :)

just my .02

I would get it from Sadoun! They are GOLD sponsors here at satelliteGuys. US

Support the guys that support the forum you are using! :)
