Charlie would love to keep Howard. The irony is that Charlie (as well as Mel K.) are Howard's favorite type of corporate managers: bloody cost cutters, who despise the the extra cost of executive dining rooms and executive washrooms and multi-multi-multi-million dollar salaries for mangers with offices that are decorated as costly as museums. Both are far more "down-to-earth" in their demeanor than many CEO's who have the nose in the air of the elite.
Charlie's rise from nothing is exactly the kind of stuff Howard loves and respects: someone who built his wealth, not inherited it, and one who moved forward when others said they would fail. Charlie and Howard would be a perfect marriage

.Think of the cross-promotion opportunities. Porn stars could come on the Stern show and plug their movies on Dish's porn channels.

"Todd Mitchell an analyst at Kaufman Bros. had a different take. Michell believes Ergen wants XM's satellites and ground network. XM's satellites occupy strategic orbital slots that would be very attractive to Dish and Echostar because XM's satellites have a better line of sight to more locations he said.
The XM satellites, if obtained by Ergen at a discount would "significantly enhance his own competitive position," Mitchell said. "I think that's the primary target here."
