HR 21 questions from an E* sub

Sorry if I sound like an idiot, as E* does not have this issue...but my friend recently moved into an apartment with one run of RG6 to the dish. Is it possible use both tuners in the HR21 on just one cable. I know my 722 from E* does this, but the installer told her no.

Also, the installer told her that she would own the equipment after 24months when her contract was up. Sounds incorrect to me, but again I am an E* sub. Thanks in advance

If the apartment uses a MFH2 system with single-wire multiswitch technology, a single cable will feed both tuners, otherwise not. The equipment is leased and stays that way, although if old enough Directv may not want it back.
