I have DirecTV in my house with HD. The main receiver is a HR44-500 and I also have a couple of Genie minis. For $7 a month I added a D12-100 for my RV. That unit died and I bought a HR22-100 because the new TV I bought needed an HDMI hookup to work.

I have HD on my account but obviously my RV is not in the same location. Can I still get HD channels? Everything I read says it is more of an account setting than being hooked to the HR44. is this correct?

Also my old D12 was hooked to a dish with 3 LNB's. In order to get high def channels can I still use the same dish or do I need one like I have at my house? Do I need any additional equipment?

I don't know anything about SWM or multiswitch etc. so keep this in mind if you answer this question. I am a novice.

Thanks.

Your old 3 lnb dish on your RV was most likely a Phase III dish, it doesn't receive hd. You need to get a Slimline dish. Where did you get the HR22 from? Did you check with Directv to make sure it's an owned and not a leased unit? If it's leased you won't be able to activate it.

Depends upon the lnb. If it's a swm type you will need a power inserter. If it isn't, you will need bbcs, one for each line. You will need a new mast, too, since the base for the Slimline dish is bigger than the Phase III dish.

Your best bet is to use the same set up that you have at your home if they are compatible, this way its easier if you ever move them from one to the other.

Not exactly sure what you were trying to saying above ...

Is your set up at home, a Slimline or a SWM set up ?

He has an HR44, so it's a swm.
