More damn newbie questions

Hey guys,
just got the new system in and have been foolin with it and raised a few questions.
1. I have a signal meter hooked up to a 15V battery pack. The instructions say I should see a light in the meter window. I don't. Does that mean it's broken?? of what??

2. here the REAL question, the the setup I orderd is a 90cm dish with an hh100 motor. The dish mount is the kind you adjust the angle on, as well as the motor having an angle adjustment also. Two angles to adjust. What should I set the Dish angle at before I set the angle on my motor???

Thanks

Ok figured the signal meter trick out. You have to turn the LNB on with the reciever =O

What would be a good true south bird for me and where can I find this info??

Thanks

I would use AMC-9 but there is not a lot on there, best to ask someone here for a LIVE channel/TP. just before you install.

Hey PSBwhere did u come up with the 24.4 degree elevation you mentioned above? When I use the stab motor P calculator it tells me 47.7 degrees. Iam i missing something?
Thanx

So close I can smell it!!

I'm so close it's almost here but here is whats going on...
I'm tuned to AMC5 , my south bird, the the quality will shoot up to 70% for like a second or two then disappear. Been doing it for an hour or so. I even scanned the bird and found 9 channels. Utah state flashed in then I got "no signal"....
Whats next? I'm i using the right transponder? All my bolts are tight. No trees blowing into the way. No major clouds.

HELP ME GRAB THAT BRASS RING FELLAS!!!

Thanks

You asked for the dish angle...... 47.7 is the motor angle, its all in the above link.

Dish Elevation calculation (in red)

If you are close try a blind scan, then peak in the signals if you get any.

Thanks to all the expert advice I finally pulled in my southern bird, at 89% no less =)
Only problem is it is the ONLY signal I get any quality on...What is the deal with that??

Using an HH100 stab, Ultra rec. and a 100cm dish.

Any suggestions??

Man i'm so happy I could watch the AMC5 horse racing for a week :smug

Thanks
