I can't imagine why anyone would broadcast SD in today's world. Once you've gotten used to HD, it almost hurts the eyes to watch anything in SD. At least Dish's SD is much better quality than the Time Warner that we used to have. Talk about something scary! Just take a look at an SD feed from TWC. :yikes

Agreed. Chiller looks like old VHS quality tape. I can't believe for years we watched vcr tapes in 280i and didn't really see a difference in picture quality. I guess if you never see higher resolution video like HD, you don't know what you're missing.

Don't hold your breath!!! It was originally supposed to come out with HD, then about every 6 months there would be a rumour it was going HD, never happened. I spent about a year (a couple of years ago) emailing and also asking on their forums, never received a response!

I wish we still had all those channels we used to have. The horror one and the kungfu one. I miss those channels. They actually played solid stuff. Can't find any old school martial arts movies anymore.

I never got to see monsters hd or any of the voom channels. FEARnet has some decent movies as well. but, i never see us getting it.

Voom. That's what it was called. Yeah monsters HD and KungfuHD were great channels. Still the worse channel loses so far, IMO.

Unfortunately, they solidly re-ran them into the ground toward the end.

Is it just me or did VOOM have some of the best quality HD, that still beats a lot of what I'm seeing today?

Originally the Voom channels were in full hd with no compression . I think it was just as good as ota back then. Then they started to compress them and reduce the resolution . There was a big stink about it at the time on this board . But in the end the quality was not what did them in. Like Kab said earlier they reran the same movies into the ground. So much so ,that DISH dropped all but 5 channels , then Voom said all or nothing , and we ended up with nothing.... but a lawsuit ,still not resolved.
