Hi:
I purchased my box so it will be out of warranty in a year. If it breaks can I just purchase another box on ebay (they are selling for $30.00 !!) and insert my access card and 8vsb module??
Thanks,
Joseph

I don't think so. I believe the activation is done with the STB's serial number.
But I think you can purchase an extended warrantee/maintenance agreement. Good question!

This is why I like the lease option. Technology changes and things can break.

Ilya is correct the activation is done with your serial number off the stb and also there is a number on the card that needs registered with the stb its used with.

Please Do Not Buy Any Voom Receiver On Ebay Unless You Want An Expensive Paperweight. Voom Will Not Activate Any Box Not Supplied By Them.

Just Say No!

Well, you can always use it for spare parts if you know how to troubleshoot circuit board repairs. Also, if the box has 6.0 or higher firmware then you may be able to use it for OTA, but I doubt you'll find many of these.
