Illegal? Has something changed?

Time to close this thread. We already know you cannot talk about Canadians who subscribe to an American service. Quite hypocritical if you ask me regardless if it's called grey market or not.
 
I think the confusion lies in the fact that this issue has flip-flopped over years and has undergone numerous appeals. The latest decision came in late 2004 the courts ruled that it was legal to subscribe to U.S. satellite services because not being able to would infringe on the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. In March/April 2005 this was overturned and it became illegal to receive U.S. signals through the gray (subscribing) or black (piracy) methods. I can't find the decision right now but here are some links to look at.

The bottom line is that, in Canada, it is illegal to receive Directv or Dishnetwork.
