Finally. Been wanting to do this for a while. I feel like I won't be disappointed, like I have countless times with Dish. Went with Choice Xtra + HD DVR and Sunday Ticket + Super Fan. After the Sunday Ticket and Super Fan charges end, my bill will be less than it was with E*. I'm hoping to be amazed now, I have high expectations based on what I've seen from others here:D. Install is this Friday, please post installation horror stories so I can be prepared.

Welcome aboard,

My only install problem was getting my second HD DVR and getting my existing SD TIVO installed; I had to call DirecTv twice during install to get it done because the installer was trying to fulfill order as received despite the fact I had already notified DirecTv it was wrong.

No hard feelings for my installer; he was doing the job he was hired to do. I just wanted it done it done right the first time w/o return service call to get it right.

I should have made it clear that I wanted all new cabling because the existing cabling was spliced and pieced together from previous satellite installs at this location. And DirecTv should have done more than telling me to have my installer call his program office due to errors that could not be rectified despite canceling ticket and getting it wrong the second time. DirecTv did go the distance with me to extend credits to my account to make up for my frustration and time spent trying to rectify the mistakes they made. At one point they even asked me if this was a deal breaker after they had already offered some nice credits!

All in all, it was well worth the switch and I'm happy with the CE testing forum. Check it out if you're interested in testing future s/w releases and features.

If you had waited one more day, you could have gotten the premier package for free for 5 months if you pay for the ST, but WELCOME ABOARD the water is fine.

Since his install isn't until Friday, if he wants to switch to this he could call and change it.

The free premier doesn't do $21 off for 12 months (or longer if he got the AAA deal). Depends, he could have a better deal than the NFL, depends on if he watched movie channels much.

Enjoy lkr. I was going to tell you to check out the MLB preview, but it ends Wednesday. Even if you don't like baseball, it would give you an idea of what NFLST is like, particularly the mix channel.

As for an install, most go well, the bad ones get posted tons more than the good ones. Just watch what the installer does, talk through it before he starts, and test everything thourghly before he leaves (locals, various HD channels, various SD channels, etc). Have him show you the signal strength and it should be over 85, perferably 90+. Sats that must have signal are 99/101/103. Optional depending on location is 110/119.

Yes you are correct. If he doesn't watch a lot of movies, it might not be beneficial to him. I just get jealous this time of year for new customers. LOL. I missed out on this deal when I first signed up because of my house I was having built getting delayed for 2 months. By the time I got D* installed, the promo was over. Couldn't install it at my old house due to trees.

Well I was expecting the deal to be finished today, but it wasn't. I decided to just go ahead and order everything today and get it over with. I'd rather have the $21 off for 12 months then rather go with Premier for 5 months, and knowing my luck, when I changed programming options down to Xtra + HD DVR, I would get charged a full $75/month up front. So I'm not disappointed one bit.

I have not looked back since I left E*, Lkr. The PQ is significantly better, although it appears that E* does have more HD channels right now. The hardware is better on E*, but D* isn't terrible.

He's a dude that like football. I doubt he will miss the Lifetimes or Hallmark. :)
And unless you sub to every movie package I don't think E* has any HD quantity advantage.

You might just ask for free Superfan, they are giving that out quite freely this year.

Just call back and tell them your friends got superfan for free when they signed up.

You can make changes as long as you aren't installed yet.

If they cancel the order, you'll need to start over and give them referrals, promo codes (AAA, etc), etc again.
