In need of some Assistance with my HDDVR

Hello all, recently I decided to play HDDVR roulette with Directv to see if I could get another HR 24 for the house, I got my first one thru solid signal but wanted to see if I could get when a bit cheaper thru Direct. I called this week was given a credit and paid 126 for the HDDVR and I was told it would be an HR 24, I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. Well it came last night and I did get one...But I am having a strange problem with it.


I am getting all the SD channels but no HD channels other then ESPNU Talked to technical support and we could not figure it out. I am getting the "771 satellite signal in sat 1" error that you may get during a bad storm or something like that. (as as note for now I only have one line going not two)

I am thinking that since I am using regular coax cable its not stong enough to pull in HD? But am a bit perplexed as espnuHD is coming in

Any thoughts as I have a tech coming next week but really dont want to spend one of my vaction days tied to the house if I can fix this

I thought this post looked familar, you two timer!!
It could be the cable, can you swap it with one that is working?
If your setup isn't swm, are the bbcs installed?
How about posting your signal levels?

Going to do a swap tonight to check cable

No BBC's installed-this may be it, I will contact Directv to send one over!!!

I will try to post my signals tonight, is there a "easier" way to post them or do I have to write them all down-though for what its worth other TV's HD is coming in fine?

Good question on posting your signal levels. I don't know of an easier way to do it other than the old fashion way.
Are there bbcs on your other dvr? If so, that's certainly the problem.

Did you run the Satellite setup on this new HR24? Use the same settings as the one that's working. That's all I can think of at the moment but like others suggested, swap the receivers to see if it's the cable.

Thanks, will double check that as well as I will await a BBC to be mail to me, to see if that works!!

If you have a swm system then you don't need bbc's. However if it is a non swm system you will need 2 bbc's, one installed on each sat in on the receiver.

That's why I asked him about it. He didn't respond specifically to it, so I don't know if it's a swm setup or not.

non swm, Directv is going to mail out the BBC, hopefully that will be the trick!!
