I bought a Dish Plus from Dishstore Thursday and was so excited to set it up that I started at 11pm last night. As 3am I had finished building, installing, and tweaking the dish.

I replaced my 1000 and used the same mount/mast with the new dish. The manual said to not use the old mount, but I think it will be alright. We don't get real strong winds and the original 500 mount keeps the dish closer to the house, making it easier to mow my lawn without hitting my head!

This morning I took some pictures and was excited with the signal results. Take a look for yourself - this dish gives me better results than my old 1000, my original Superdish 121, it's just EXCITING!

For signal, my 110 and 119 are all right around 100, a few up to 110.

Hard to believe, but 129 are mostly above 80, as high as 90, with a couple weaker transponders in the 70s.

On my old 1000, my best 129 transponder was in the mid 70s. I think that 1000 dish is simply too small, the plus dish is giving me much more stability on 129.

BEST OF ALL - I think this will significantly reduce my rain fade.

So, as for 118.7:

The only transponders I'm concerned with right now are 4 & 5 for Detroit HD Locals.

The signal is in the low-mid 70s, 71 and 73. This is still better than I had on my original 121 Superdish, which was usually high 60s.

I really wanted to compare the HD quality, but can't!

Golf on ABC, but it was only in SD.

Baseball on FOX, but WJBK only has a blank screen on channel 6462! I ended up watching the White Sox / Yankees game on OTA, and can't compare it.

I'll post some comparasion later this weekend if I get a change to see some HD content via 118.7.

Lastly, here are some pics of my setup, please through any comments for improvement/changes if you see anything, i.e. grounding, etc.

This entire setup was self installed with only self-taught expertise, thanks to Satguys of course.

4 Lines or RG6 run from back of my garage to under deck on back of house, where they are grounded, then run into basement. The dish is grounded with a ground line on one of the coax cables that also connects to the ground block under the deck.

In basement they are hooked to DPP44, where 3 lines run to two 622s and one 111 receiver.

Ignore the mess of wires, thanks for any feedback.

Lastly, HUH? Anyone care to take a stab at what this message means on my Check Switch Details screen?

It has something to do with the 118/119 LNB, but I don't know what it means.

All 4 inputs are working properly despite the message, but it has me confused.

I would check each transponder on 118.75 and 119 using your 622. That messages show serious problem in accepting by the combo 118/119 LNBF DiSEqC commands and bandstacking presence. Could you post a table of results ? SS on each tpn - 118 - 119

Added: It's looks very strange - likes the 118/119 LNBF block is old style (legacy) type. Then how your DPP44 communicate with it ? My DPP44 is recently refused to use KuFSS circular LNBF (non DP type).

have to keep the dish low to brush the snow in winter. may want to consider that before catching a plane!

I had wierd issues with my DPP 44 and 118.7 too. I turned a 121 LNB into a 118.7 LNB via a C120 de-polarizer (dont someone say no you cant do this please due to liner vs circular!) On it's own it would show up every time as a "feed", yet into the dpp44 using a vip622 on port 4 it would show ok ONCE or twice. Then i would do the same check switch having touched nothing and have tuner 1 find it, tuner 2 not find it, I would then move it to another port out of interest, it would show up as 118.7 with an X on it but say that it found odd's yet even worked still, then once i got a disecq error too. Something if def off with how a 622 checks lnb's via a dpp44. This isnt the first time i have encountered this. If you put more that one "feed" into a dpp44 it can SOMETIMEs cause this issue too. I dont know why it happens, but it does! ;( I wish that it and my HDMI would just work :( Bring on 3.60 soon please engineers! ;0

It is definately a dish pro Lnb. All four are. thanks scott for seeking an answer. i wonder if fox is back on, im at the tigers game watching a two hit shut out over the truly sad royals.

Nice post!

One question: For what I understand, the Dish 1000+ will have the center LUN combined with 119/118.7, and will only using ONE input to DPP44. From the photos from your install, there are four inputs to DPP44 instead of three inputs....... Could there be the reason why you got the error message?

Am I correct if using Dish1000+, you will still be able to add another wing dish, like 61.5 if needed, and still have four feeds to DPP44?

Instruction manual shows you need 4 feeds from the 1000+. One for each location (110, 118.75, 119, and 129).

Try putting your down feeds to your DPP44 in the same order as they come from the 1000+
110/118/119/129
I believe 118 and 119 should be on consecutive ports on the DPP44.
Mine is getting installed Monday morning. If the message comes up, I'll ask the installer what it means.

Couldn't hurt to try. Looks like masterdeals hooked it up exactly like the install guide shows.

From top down on the dp44:

119 (2D)
110
129
118.7(1F)

Thanks for the encouraging 1000+ post. Nice to see your signal strengths so reasonable across the board from Michigan.
