GEOSATpro Installing in a Directv Pole/Mast

I bought a geosatpro 36 inch and I already have an existing directv oval dish on the roof that is not needed. The thickness of the pole the directv dish is mounted on looks exactly the same. Can I install the Geosat pro on this pole and not drill additional holes on the roof?

Will there be issues with elevation? I am looking to use Galaxy 19 for now.

Will the dish be fixed or motorized? G19 is very near the main 101w DirecTV position. Photos would help with our input. Depends on how the mast is mounted. Is the mast outside diameter 1 5/8 (1.66")?

It will be a fixed dish, I also need advice on how to find the signal.

I also have a dish network dish that is on the roof but mounted a much lower than the directv one where I can actually work from the ladder instead of having to go on the roof. The directv one is mounted higher so I figured and was the bigger/heavier dish I figured to try to use that pole instead. But here is a backup/secondary plan in case. Also I don't have a TV I can bring outside to find the signal and I have to go back and forth up the ladder so I want to make as few trips as possible. Here is a picture of the dish network dish also.

As long as the post is the right diameter, this mount should provide enough clearance for the bottom of the dish to clear the roof.

Whoa... I have been installing satellite dishes for over 30 years and I wouldn't attempt to install without a meter or a TV displaying the Signal Quality meter screen. I guarantee this to be the most frustrating experience EVER! Borrow or go to a thrift shop and get a small TV. You will need it!

Secondly, please take a look at the picture of the LNB. It has a pointer guide on it too, what should I set that to?

Welcome to Satellite Guys ITFTAguy! Go to www.dishpointer.com, enter your location (exact longitude and latitude is best), select a satellite from the dropdown box and it will give you the azimuth (compass heading both true and magnetic), dish elevation and lnbf skew. Aim your dish along the green line on dishpointer. You should be able to find a reference object in the distance such as a building, pole, tree, etc. As long as your mast is plumb you can set your dish elevation to what it listed. Dishpointer lists the lnbf skew assuming you are standing behind your dish. Rotate the lnbf to the degree and direction indicated. If you are standing in front of your dish, skew your lnbf the opposite direction.

You probably are moving the dish around to much. After you get a consistent quality, pan West very slowly. What receiver are you using? What LNB? You can do it!!!!

Now I'm working backwards. I had g19 locked with 81 strength and 54 quality and scanned 164 channels. Then I started messing with everything including the LNB and now I can't get steady strength and I have 0 signal.

Everything is set, I scanned about 180 channels. The reason why I had lost my signal I figured out is the lnb power on the receiver was set to off. After I set it to ON my signal and quality were good and I scanned 180 channels. Not sure how I set it to off and lost 3 hours in the process but I'm good now. I will post some pictures tomorrow. Can't believe I found the signal within 5 minutes after mounting the dish then struggled for 3 hours because of a setting on the receiver.

That kind of thing happens to me too. I struggle with a problem for a long time and the solution is often a simple thing I overlooked. Persistence usually pays off!

Anyway, congratulations and glad you got it working.
