Interchangeability of External HDs on 2 ViP211ks?

I have 2 ViP211k receivers and identical WD My Book Essential 1TB drives for each. (2 receivers + 2 external hard drives) My wife had me record several programs on "my" receiver but would prefer to watch them on the big tv. Can I swap the hard drives between the 2 receivers without the dreaded reformat?

If the answer is yes I assume that I should power down the receivers and the external drives prior to doing the swap then restart?

AS long as they are on the same account they should interchange.

Boba is right on the money, as long as they are on the same account you can swap hard drives between the 211's.

I never had a 211, but if I recall, you do need to re-set the 211 to swap. Not the EHD.

Actually there should be a menu option (if I remember right) about safely removing the drive (just like on a computer)

Thanks to all for their replies. I was previously concerned that the "Remove DVR" was a permanent removal rather than a "safe to remove DVR" type of message.
