I honestly didn't know they were still making H3s. Haven't seen one in years but today I got a replacement H3 and when I opened the box...what do you know, a NEW H3. I had forgotten how easy it was to read the R- and S- numbers off a new unit vs a reman. I guess since it is new and not a reman it also has a new HD.

New old stock maybe? Does it have a really high receiver number?
Nope....actual NEW H3. You can always tell a reman if from nothing else from the coax connection and the ant port. Part # is 207406 and it is listed as "NEW BULK". Even the rubber feet on the bottom are perfectly clean and those suckers look used from day one.
It states that it is made in China. It has been quite a while so I might be remembering this wrong but seems like they used to be made in India.

New old stock means it is a brand new item but has been sitting in stock for a while. Not questioning if the one you got was new, just wondering if it was sitting in the back of the stock for a while.

Here's the label on the box
New H3.webp

Oh, gotcha. On the label pic I posted, it looks like it was made July 15th of this year.

Or by the packaging: anti-static bag vs shrink wrap. They made them in both countries

That's probably a new receiver Charlie had hid back in his bedroom closet for backup. Now that even he is cutting the cord, he doesn't think he'll need it any more.

I can't believe Charlie would actually have any more new equipment manufactured considering all the equipment
Believe me....both of them were brand new.
If I had to speculate, I think they probably started making new ones because the refurbs were becoming so undependable. A perfect example is a new connect I did last Friday. Customer called Monday, complete signal loss. It WAS the H3, replaced it today and all is good. I bet the one I installed on Friday had been RA'd for signal loss issues BUT, it was an on again, off again issue.
I always held my breath when I opened up a refurb here at the store because there was a decent chance it was going to be DOA, OR go bad during the first month. I actually started dreading a Dish sale because the problem got so bad. When you are booked several days out, it is a REAL pain in the butt to have to deal with a defective receiver.

If you could actually open the cover, the date on the hard drive would have given the better clue or at least hopefully the hard drives are still being made.

These would have to have a new HD or it would have to say reman, even if the rest of the rec is brand new. The Hopper Duos were new but had recycled HDs and were ALL labeled as remans.

Both of these were sealed in that original anti static packaging like the good old days.

Round dish in 2026?

Has Dish nixed offers?
