Interesting - got a NEW H3 as an RA replacement

If you login to your Dish account, under my account > my equipment it will show you. There was a big problem in the 00's with Dish marking owned equipment as leased, and of course it was a nightmare to get it corrected.

In the early days, Dish gave you the equipment before they switched to the leasing model. There was even a period of time where they ran an owning and leasing campaign together, "Digital Home Advantage" but the only way to get more than 2 receivers without buying was leasing.

Not sure how that adds up- "only way to get >2 rx's without buying was leasing". Wasn't the only way to get any rx's without buying to "lease"? I never heard of them giving subscriber-owned rx's for free...though they would always replace for free...

Before "leasing" DiSH "gave you the equipment"- $300 later. Then they lowered it to $150 (in charliespeak, "a hunderd fitty"). Then they gave a free "self-install kit" to their multitude of customers they direct-sold around their dealers or so-called "retailers". Greata buncha dem deutche volke.

Then they started, along with the zer0-upfront leasing, wonder of wonders, providing for installation at no charge but suddenly also started needing SSN to activate, and c. was ranting they weren't gonna give anyone a free start twice.

The promos changed all the time, the chargeback period changed all the time, they were constantly moving the goal posts. From what I remember, right before DHA came out they were offering 2 receivers with install for $100 with a 12 month agreement. I don't think they had moved to 24 mos by that time...tough to remember 25 years ago.

Probably correct. They were juggling like crazy between competing with DTV/USSB and coming to reckoning with all of the crooked "retailers" they'd taken on just to sell, accumulate residual payments and do nothing further for customers

Round dish in 2026?

Has Dish nixed offers?
