Sorry if this has already been discussed. But since one of the recent software updates I can only choose RF or IR to control my receivers. I have a R15 in the basement that I connect to a few small TVs in the house over Coax, but also to a slingbox. I have RF remotes for the two small TVs that I use off the reciever and the slingbox uses an IR blaster. Well, I would really prefer to have the reciever accept BOTH IR and RF at the same time.

Is there a "hack" around this as I would prefer not to go back to crappy IR extenders..

I have never known a D* recvr to be able to do both at the same time.
That would be a nice option, but I haven't seen it yet.

Yes the R15 & R16 can be made to accept both RF & IR signals. First you have to put the receiver back into IR mode through the menu, once done, do red button reset when it come back to live tv. With a RF antenna attached to R15, and the rf remote married to the receiver via these steps:

1. dtv
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 0 0 0 0 1

4. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
5. enter 9 6 1
6. press CH UP
7. enter last 6 digits of Receiver ID #(RID) found on a sticker in the access card compartment
8. press SELECT

now the receiver will accept both RF & IR signals, do not ever turn on the RF mode through the menu again. or it will be either rf or ir,and never both.
