Is Dish going to provide the NBC 3D Channel for the Olympics?

3D is such a polarizing issue, especially on these kind of sites. I won't wear those stupid glasses, It gives me a headache, it's just a passing fancy. I just know that Dish is my company. I choose to spend my money with them, not Directv, not AT&T, not Comcast, not Cox. I would prefer that my company be a leader in the field, not a follower. I appreciate the thought of them trying to save me money (see AMC, if saving me $$ is the true reason). That's why I asked if those in the inner circle have any idea what it would cost Dish to offer the 3D feed. In 2012 virtually every single TV sold in the $1300+ range will be equipped to receive 3D. It's sort of like owning a convertible. Like it or not, sooner or later you're going to put the top down.

Yeah maybe your right, but only when I wave this American Flag as well... hmm why does this flag have a sticker on it saying Made in China?

Where did we go wrong? Oh well I got to ban myself for being political so see you guys later. :D
Pampering our kids and letting them lead instead of following. They are always bored. The reality is they are boring. The countries that now have the higher standard of living have very difficult school curriculums and major competition to go to college. in the US we have more than 50% going to college. Most taking subjects with no income potential. Our competitors limit college to 20% and only have degrees in subjects where this is income potential and the countries gross national product growth. It has been downhill since the mid 60s. As a college professor I can tell you the students I taught in the 2000s could not compete with the students in the 70s and 80s.

3D Olympics Feed Will Hit 80% of U.S. Homes - 2012-07-20 19:14:11 | Broadcasting & Cable

NBC Olympics and Panasonic have announced that the first-ever 3D coverage of the Olympic Games will be available on multichannel providers serving nearly 80% of all U.S. homes during the London Games.

Operators carrying the feed, which will total about 242 hours of stereoscopic broadcasts or about 12 hours a day, include Armstrong, AT&T, Blue Ridge, Bright House Networks, Cablevision, Comcast, Cox Communications, DIRECTV, Insight, Mediacom, RCN, Suddenlink, Time Warner Cable, Verizon and Wide Open West.

"We are pleased that nearly 80 percent of U.S. TV households will receive the incomparable clarity and performance of the first-ever 3D production of the Olympic Games," said Joseph M. Taylor, chairman and CEO, Panasonic Corporation of North America in a statement. "Panasonic's 3D technology and NBC Olympics' superb, moment-by-moment coverage of the Games will make the events more engaging to viewers as they watch their favorite athletes compete."

The feed will be produced by the International Olympic Committee's Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) and use Panasonic's 3D production technologies, including its fully integrated twin-lens Full HD 3D camera recorder products.

Events will include the opening and closing ceremonies, men's and women's gymnastics, coverage from the aquatic center, including both diving and swimming, bicycle racing and full coverage of track and field from the Olympic stadium.

Notice no Dish ....

Is DISH's setup even compatible to deliver 3D to homes?

I keep thinking there is not even one 3D channel on DISH because of technical incompatibilities (i.e. DISH's encoders can't support encoding it or DISH's receivers wouldn't be able to take an incoming 3D feed from sat and do whatever has to be done to get it compatible with 3D monitors).

DISH's receivers can deliver 3d without any problems.

The actually had a 3d demo channel up for over a year which I had access to. And it worked fine. It was using side by side

What about USN? Is that in HD yet? If so, why hasn't Dish uplinked that yet? I won't expect any 3D channels as Dish is stating that there is little room for HD channels.

One more time, USN is not slated to show any Olympic coverage....... None whatsoever......

UPDATE
No blackout planned. Most channels should work. Distant Nets if your worried

those special soccer & basketball channels & its games will not be available on distants also.

Requesting Dish to remove the Telemondo USA restriction. They have some olympic coverage...whereas local Telemundo is showing regular programming at those timeslots. The only way to watch those games on TV will be Telemundo USA.

This is one chance they could show they are not 2 years behind everyone else and show some of the 3d games. Damn shame Dish is left in the dust ONCE AGAIN......
