.....
I'm pretty green in the c band area, but am interested in getting into it. I don't have many details on the pictures I have posted. I believe the dish is a 10' and a good bit of aluminum in the construction. I was offered for free the whole system, dish, receiver & all if I take it down & haul off. According to owner, all was operational when he quit using it.
Does anyone recognize this type of dish setup. Looking for pros & cons. Also would this dish be able to be outfitted with a c/ku lnb. I'm pretty sure it is c only right now. Would I have to use the receiver that came with it or could I use something like a coolsat 6000? My other concern is the actuator. If a coolsat 6000 or different receiver other than the original is used how would you power the actuator.
Thanks in advance & sorry if these same questions have been posted before. IMG00002.jpgIMG00001.jpgIMG00003.jpg

Looks to be in good condition and should provide adequate KU band reception if outfitted with a C/KU feed horn or LNBF. Make sure the dish is not warped or has bent panels or ribs.

You do not need the legacy receiver to move the dish if you purchase a controller box like the VBOX X or GBOX that receives the move instructions from a DVBS receiver and drives the linear actuator motor to the correct saved position. If you get rid of the legacy receiver you would need to install a LNBF as DVBS receivers normally do not have this ability to change polarity or skew of the legacy Feedhorn/LNB combinations.

What kind of receiver is with it? If its a Motorola 920 or 922 you might not want to ditch it!

I'm not sure, but will find out in a day or so. That would be sweet if it were a 920 or 922.
After doing some reading the 4dtv programming looks like it would be a perfect fit for my viewing habits & budget. It would also probably be easier to use a separate dish for k/u fta, especially if I sub to 4dtv and leave the c band in a fixed location. I am amazed from what I've been reading about the non existent rain fade issue with c band.

Is it a good find?
Well, off hand I don't see anything bad about it.

One pix makes it look like it's high in the air, overhanging a one-story garage.
If you have roof-top access and can get the dish off the pole easily, this could be a great deal.
I'm thinking if you don't need to mount the dish too high at your place, cut the pole at ground level.
You should still have plenty to bury back at home and save yourself a lot of trouble! ;)

I can confirm that-no rain fade with c-band, provided you are using a big dish and have everything sealed against the rainwater!
It has stormed so hard here that the electricity will flash on and off, but the c-band works if the juice is flowing to the box lol. It IS wonderful.
