Just came back to Dish, have a few questions

I just got Dish installed yesterday. I decided to switch from DirecTV, because I found the Hopper/Joey interface easier to read and navigate.
I have two Hoppers and three Joeys right now.
I heard the interview with Vivek on SatelliteGuys radio and understood that a unified timer list and management is supposed to be coming "soon." Did I understand this correctly that it will allow all Hoppers to communicate and when all three tuners are being used on Hopper "a" the recording will automatically move over to an unused tuner on Hopper "b"?
Another question I have, is, is there anyway to see both of my Hoppers playlist at the same time, or do I have to select each separately? With DirecTV whole home, I could see all playlists at one time.
Also, if I decide I want to add a third Hopper in the future, the way I understand it, I will need a DPP44, a DPP33, and a Solo node in order to add this. Does anyone know if I buy a Hopper from a dealer on eBay and the other needed equipment, and don't have Dish come out, will this add more time to the programming commitment?
I know with DirecTv if I add ANYTHING it is leased and adds a new commitment, even if I get it from a dealer.
I will appreciate everyone's help and input in helping me with my questions.

If you purchase and install your own equipment you do not have to renew and commitment with Dish. This is one of the very few advantages to owning equipment.

Thanks for the info. The integrated playlist is not a big deal. Being able to place recordings into folders helps it be more organized. One of the big reasons I decided to switch.
I thought the equipment was still like that, but I wasn't sure. I knew it used to be when I was with Dish before, but that was about 4 years ago.

Yes and if you have Joeys they will be able to view recordings on either Hopper. Currently you can't set timers or schedule shows on the other Hopper.

Kind of. What you see on either of the two hoppers by default is what is stored on the individual hopper you happen to be viewing. To see what is on the other hopper you have to choose to view the other hopper from a list that is on the DVR menu. I don't call that "synced" since it really is the one hopper polling the other for data. Currently you also can see the scheduled recordings on the hopper you are viewing, not the other hopper. Nor can you schedule recordings for any hopper other than the current one.

You can see what is recorded on the other one. Or could back when I had two.

If you went with a hopper and super joey (not the regular one) you get two extra tuners and get total integration between the two boxes.

It's really not that big of a deal once you use the Hopper. You still have access to all of your recordings from any TV in the house, it doesn't matter what Hopper it's on. You ask all the dual Hopper people on here how big of a hassle it is and I bet you'll find out it's not as bad as they originally thought.

I can see what's recorded between Hoppers with no problem, but it's kind of a pain to have to go to another Hopper to set/delete timers if I see something advertised I want to record. Because mine are organized by PTAT on one, miscellaneous on other, it would be more convenient to be able to add/delete from both Hoppers. I can live with it, but would prefer it to be a real whole-home system.
BTW, Futon Critic web site is invaluable when it comes to finding dates of premieres for setting your timers!

Actually, as I understand it, when all sat tuners on Hopper A are in use, a sat tuner on Hopper B is offered. If accepted, the recording is kept on Hopper B BUT there is a "pointer" placed on Hopper A so you can see and access the recording.

I also like the guide in the Hopper better, it is black text on a light coloured background and easier to read than DirecTVs.

This is why I find it funny when people complain about it's too hard to read the text on the Hopper. You're a customer that just came from DirecTV and you think it's easier to read. I guess I just don't understand some people's complaints.

Whenever I'm bored and need a good laugh I'll go on Amazon and read some of the reviews on the Hopper and other products that I know are excellent but people find odd complaints about.
