KATU-TV to replace MeTv with Charge! on September 1st

Sinclair Broadcast Group (SBG) owner of KATU in Portland, OR, has announced on 9/1/22, SBG owned Charge! (currently airing on SBG owned KUNP 47.3) will replace MeTV on KATU 2.2 (Comet, Charge! and TBD Secure Nationwide Affiliate Growth). MeTV has announced their new affiliation with Sagamore Hill Broadcasting of Portland, LLC. and will broadcast on their low-power channels KJYY 29.3 (Portland) and KJWY 21.3 (Salem). These signals will not reach a broader audience as full-power KATU. My question is why not keep the MeTV affiliation and swap it to full-power KUNP 47.3 without the signal attenuation that will be attributed to KJYY and KJWY?

I have an answer to my own question above. That's because SBG does not want to broadcast subchannels from a rival broadcaster like Weigel Broadcasting Company; owner of MeTV. This makes sense since both KATU and KUNP are owned by SBG.
