Kia EV9

Got my EV9 back last Monday. Apparently the modem was locked up. They pulled the 12v for an hour then reconnected and everything came back up. They did a couple of recalls and tire rotation and sent it back to me. It's taken 3 additional OTA updates this week since I got it back. So seems all is well with it. Hated being without it a week. I just don't enjoy driving combustion vehicles now. Have to start thinking about what I'll do in 8 month's when my lease is up.

99.9% it won't be a tesla, unless they start giving them away and even then it would be a tough choice. Probably be another EV9/Ioniq 9, but been tempted by some Lucid leases for the last week. RIvian or Porsche if I go crazy and decide to purchase. Vistiq is a possibility. Been looking at F150 Lightning for deals too, but Ford dealers around here suck. Actually been most tempted to trade my Yukon to Carvana for a Rivian R1T and then decide if I need to keep a 2nd vehicle when the EV9 lease ends.

Might want to consider that Rivian R2. Not sure when it's released but sometime this year.

Have to see what it ends up being. I really like my EV9, so that is still my most likely vehicle. I just need to decide if I want to keep a spare vehicle.

Supposedly there is a Rivian publicity launch event next week. Right now I'm afraid the battery may not be big enough on R2 just from leaked material. 250-280miles real world at 70-75mph at 100%. Speed limits are 80-85 on the interstates around here, so range will be even less.

I would have said you would need to check out the Hyundai Ioniq 9, but then here comes Toyota with the Highlander EV. It might have the comparable price and space as the EV9.

Been resisting trading my Yukon in on a used r1t or lightning the last 3-4 days. I don't need the extra vehicle for driving but I do for insurance purposes. My homeowners goes way up if I lose my multi line discount so have one car on personal policy and I also need any vehicles used for work on my commercial policy to satisfy some of my contracts.

I'll most likely just lease another EV9 when my current EV9 lease is up November 4th. Perhaps an EV6 if I decide to get a used r1t or lightning.

I wonder if there's any major carmaker that hasn't announced a move to NACS.
Yeah, well, funny you ask. The new 2026 Dodge Charger EV? Its Charge(r) port is CCS1, which means they missed equipping this with NACS by not signing up in time. Now, Stellantis is writing off over twenty billion dollars in losses from over-estimating the demand for EVs. Mostly, it's bone-headed moves like the Dodge Charger and Jeep Recon. Both are late to the party, and in the case of the Jeep, wildly over-priced.

Well had to take the EV 9 back to the dealer this morning. Went out to go get some insurance documents for my other morning purchase and the EV9 started up with a fault saying check electrical system or service electrical system. Backed it out of the garage and tried disconnecting the 12v for 15 mins and reattaching and restarting but the fault persisted, so took it the dealer.

Now for my other morning purchase. Will be a Rivian R1T owner sometime tomorrow morning.

Hopefully have the EV9 back in a couple days and the HV battery is ok. Got a voluntary recall notice in the mail yesterday to fix/move a wiring connector near the drivers footwell. So took that to the dealer to have them do it too while it was there and get an update on how long repairs were going to take. EV tech says it appears it's a computer unit that's faulting and a new one should be here to tomorrow. They will know for sure one the computer is replaced, but they believe the HV battery is fine.

It just keeps getting better. They replaced the BMS computer and I picked it up a little while ago. I was already pissed off as it was covered in dust and dirt as they didn't wash it. I took it to the carwash and then noticed a dent in the roof line with fresh chipped paint.

Waiting for the service mgr to call me back as I can't go back up there yet as I have Rivian mobile tech coming in 20 mins to replace the 12v battery.

I am losing patience with the dealership. They told me a week to fix the dent in the EV9 and that they would do it in house at their GM body shop next door. Now this morning I see in the app the car is across town at an independent body shop and the dealership just called saying they need another 2 days, which makes it 2 weeks for the dent repair and 4 weeks without the car I'm paying on.

Last week they gave me a new Subaru from their Subaru dealership as a loaner, after I went in and raised hell because they hadn't called me in 4 days about scheduling and fixing the dent. I took it just to have some sort of compensation, but then I'm paying for gas in it and I can't really use it for work as I don't want something to happen and give them a reason to claim some type of damage. Come Thursday if it's not ready, they will be getting another in person visit and it won't be very civil visit.
