Kiss off Dish!

Count me as another lucky one! No matter what service you go with you will have some problem at some point, may be technical, may be issue on the company end, may be customer service. I think we should all count our blessings with what technology has brought us. Yes it has it's share of problems now and again BUT it's a heck of a lot better than a few local channels and a snowy, crappy picture.
If you can't deal with it grab your rabbit ears and hook em' up.

I've been watching OTA HD since the beginning - 1998! It's the standard for picture quality. Never once have had to deal with crappy locals from any service provider.

Yes indeed, you are so right! I also have an OTA antenna picking up a different set of great locals as well as Dish's local package. Aah the life of a couch potato is good!

Count me in as another lucky one too. I have 2 622's and not one has failed yet. The 622 in the living room was one of the first off the production line too. Also, I do have to agree with the HD Quality thing. They do need to move to MPEG4 quickley and give us full rez mpeg 4 Thats all I want. Along with my HDRSN.

How long until Comcast Sportsnet Chicago HD? Doesn't it even have its own channel on Dish Network?

I thought you switched the minute the flier hit your door

Seriously, go without tv. Get off the couch and enjoy the outside life. You remind of customers that just can't live without tv or have to have the most lastest thing out there. HD is so over-rated and just a bunch of crap. I see better picture quality on sd than hd. I mean jesus, for that much extra and you only get 30 or so hd channels.

Im done

On some tvs i've seen better picture. One i did a couple of days ago, really old tv, crisp, clear picture. Lady had cable and picture was crap and she was going to buy another tv, and i told her to hold off and wait, as soon as the reciver was active and picture was so clean she could'nt believe that was her tv.

I have seen hd tv's look like crap, with a great signal strength. So if your trying to say all hd's are great, i hate to say half of them are crap, no matter what connection they have, whether they be hdmi or composite.

I've installed to some plasma's and the picture wasn't all that. Maybe it need fine tune adjustments, I don't know; that's one area I don't ride into the sunset.

Well, the conversation was recorded, I have his name and a 3 letter code.
Dish Smich.
Good luck!..I bet you'll start seeing those bills anyway....CSR's cannot waive fees..Only WinBack and Executive Resolutions can do that. And that is only if all other avenues have been exhausted..From your original post, it seems you won't even allow a tech to come and see if the system can be fixed..Dish will not waive your contract..
BTW, you show your contempt for us technicians by using insults..Was that really necessary?..Your receiver doesn't function correctly..So it's the tech's fault?....
Until you walk in my shoes....I suggest you keep your opinions to yourself.

My cable company, medicom, sucks. So for us Dish is better all the way. If I could go FIOS, would do it in a heartbeat. But for us Dish is the best option

Eh... That's semi-true I suppose. CSRs can waive fees, just not large ones as a general rule, at least not unless it's under someone elses' authority. Winback can waive fees... (until they're told not to. Which happens a LOT.) ERT, has a few options Winback doesn't but other than that they might as well be the same thing.

The “Executive Escalations” person you spoke with was a glorified CSR in yes, gasp, a call center.

Still true. Same team answers CEO, so I never understand why people praise them up and down. They COULD do what they end up doing for CEO at the start, but e-mails are recorded, calls can be, but generally aren't. At any rate, the difference between a front-line CSR and ERT, ....is about three years sitting in the same chair. Not much else. There are exceptions, just not many. (Can count em on one hand.)

"Executive Office" - You were expecting this was the Englewood headquarters, weren't you? Oops...

"CEO" - You didn't really think a multi-billion dollar Fortune 500 company has a single e-mail address that routes directly to the CEO, did you? Can he see what's in it, sure! Will he sit to read through 200 e-mails a day amounting to "you charged me 5.99 more than you said you would, I'll sue!..." dun think so.

Around here FIOS has serious growing pains. Here is a post from the AVS Forum on the Philadelphia FIOS issues;

SD / HD Pic Quality Decrease
If anyone was still curious, I had 2 top level techs and an engineer from Jersey at my home yesterday to look into my degraded picture quality that i've seen for 3 weeks now ever since the pixellation "issue" on Sunday, 5/20.

Some SD channels are so bad, it's like You Tube. The people move, their faces and clothes, or the logo in the corner of the picture bleeds. Some HD's you can now see brief artifacts in the background. It's not all SD's - but a good handful.

I was told this is typical on large TV's and was just MPEG artifacting, and basically, I have to deal with it. Since this was also witnessed at the CO, it means everyone in my area is seeing it too. Before the issue on 5/20, it was barely noticeable - and I tried to reiterate this many times, but whatever was done to "fix the issue" caused this one - and apparently they don't think it's a problem.

Other customers in West Chester and Middletown, DE are seeing it - so I can only say users in their areas are also "dealing" with it. Their answer was to actually give me an S-Video cable, and I was told to watch SD via that to minimize the distortion. I just paid off my 50" plasma and i'm watching TV via an S-Video cable. Classic.

At this point, I don't know what to do. I'm not going back to Comcast - b/c they are more expensive and not any better. I spent 3 weeks of my time trying to get this fixed, and now i'm just exhausted from it all.

My 622 sometimes starts on TV/Tuner 2 with the check switch screen and then clears by itself, nothing bad, and definitely not as bad as the poster on his FIOS issues.

Obviously you don't have your TV's set up correctly. If they are then you must be blind. There is no comparison, HD lite or not.

I agree that not all HDTV's are the same... but to say that SD looks better than HD on any true HDTV with HD inputs is just plain stupid. 640x480 does not equal 1280x720 lines or 1920x1080 (or 1440x1080/1280x1080) under any circumstances.

Well JMikeF hate to hear about some of the issues you have had. Anyway if you still are having some issues let me know and I can PM you some info that might help you out.

My experience is that the installers for Dish in northern VA are a sorry bunch. My advice: clean up your act and provide decent service, or get thicker skin.
