Last and Next 3D Movie

Last: Dredd 3D

pays to be sick all week. I get to watch what I want. Unfortunately, that means I'm stuck with Hope Springs tomorrow night. Anyways. 3D was very good and I liked the movie.

Did you like Dredd?

Last: Resident Evil: Retribution

You can always count on RE for terrific 3D. AQ rocked the house. Movie, so-so.

Not a movie but... I took my Sony HTD10 with me and watched some of the 3D I took last night, then watched clips from the dts 2013 demo disc.
3D clips were:
Prometheus"The Cave"
Dr. Seuss' The Lorax
Prometheus"The Storm"
Might have to break down and get the Lorax as the clip looked very good!

Don- I was very impressed with the DTS Demo this year from a sound perspective. The recordings on there said to be in NEO:X played very well with my Denon 4311ci. It is not NEO:X but did recognize the clips as DTS Master Audio 7.1. The sound placement was IMO, perfect! I paid particular attention to the direction of the sound in the front wides and these were eminating from both front main left and rights as well as the left and right surrounds off to either side of me. The high speakers that I do not have installed now came from the lower corners and simulated an overhead direction. In otherwords this demo disk did an excellent job of down mixing the 11.1 to 7.1 for a very positive experience. I am looking forward to getting Dredd in to see if the same sound is on that disk.

The one thing I have discovered over the years is the DTS demos do not always represent what gets on the commercial release. I have launched my complaints to DTS about this.

Today, I received a bunch of rental 3D's in the mail to view.

Spy Kids: Game Over 3D
March of the Wooden Soldiers 3D
Underworld Awakening 3D
Flying Monsters 3D
Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3D

Loving 3D-BluRayRental. I can watch 5 times as many 3D titles now for the same budget. I pay as I go with them. That way I can get more titles sooner.

I don't sub per month because I only want 3D. maybe some months they don't have releases other months lots. Plus since I live 4-5 days shipping from them, I would never get my money's worth. Best for me to pay for what I order and get as many as I want at a time. Prices range from $3.99 to $7.99. I compare that with buying the title I may only watch once at $29.99. If I think I may be watching a title more than once, I'll order it. I liked Prometheus, so I bought that one and it was the last title I purchased. I've watched it 4 times so far. If I lived closer, I'd go for the subscription since shipping time is faster. But, one still needs to understand the maximum number per month rule they have.

This is a busy month as I already got in 8 titles in 3D and just ordered another, about $55 total. I suspect the next few months will be busy according to their new release
announcements.

I wouldn't say it is a better deal, just better suited to my wants and what they offer.

Ahh ok. I rent locally at a mom&pop video store that has 3D Blurays for $1.99/day.
I only rent the titles I really wanna see in 3D and they do carry every new 3d release and they become available.
Normal blurays are $1.49/day which carries a hella alot of a selection compared to Redbox and w/o delays.

Your situation is unique and you are lucky! Maybe I need to do some investigative work on what we have here in mom and pop stores too.

Yea I was very surprised myself. I ended up at that store cause the redbox i use was out of a certain bluray, so as I drove back home I spotted that video store and said watta heck let me see if they have what am looking for. The rest is history. Also they are about 5mins away from my home so its certainly very convinient.

Just got Hotel Transylvania and Resident Evil-Retribution in from Rental. Will watch them tonight. Man I love 3D-Bluerayrental.com Buying all the titles was getting too expensive.

pro96-Did my search locally for Mom&Pop rental places and they are all out of business except for one. I will browse by as they are not far from me. Other than Blockbuster's 3 stores, we have Red Boxes everywhere; half dozen within 2 miles so I may have to see how that system works. RedBox seems the only real game left if BB closes down this year. Anyone know if they do 3D or just Bluray 2D. I see they charge $1.50 per night rental which will work for me but will cost quite a bit more than I pay at BB with Movie Pass. Then again, my BB store is 30 miles round trip which, adding the gas cost makes it about the same as RedBox cost.

I hear ya.. every area is different when it comes to smaller video rental stores.

And yes like Ramy says, no 3D on Redbox at all !!!!!!

Some of the dual format BD's will probably be available, like Dredd. That's even showing up at Netflix now in 3D/2D

I stopped in at the last M&P standing here and it was awful. Place is a combo toker pipe shop, and ancient titles DVD with a big porn selection. The had a couple older 2D BluRays but for retail sales at higher than normal list price. So, when BB finally dies here, it looks like either mail order or RedBox.
