Local Channels Coverage

I saw the maps site but unsure how to use all the data!
I am in Charlotte NC and would like to find out how far away I can expect to get local channels.
I just returned from SW Florida and know for sure the beam did not reach there!!
New to all this STUFF from space, I am more use to HF communication on amateur bands!

Satellite uses spot beams for local channels, the strongest signal is at the center of the beam and like ripples in a pond gets weaker as it moves out from the center. Topographic conditions affect the signal and size of dish affects collection on the fringes. Each spot beam has different limitations look at the maps and see where Charlotte is plotted.

And, the Charlotte locals are on both east and west arcs, 61.5 and 129. Each satellite has a different look to the spot beam. That means that it depends upon which satellite you are looking at as well.

I am in the Charlotte DMA....As are my in laws some 75 miles distant to the Northwest. Their signals are just fine.
The Charlotte DMA covers quite a large area.
From north to south, it covers from Ashe County at the VA state line.Then southeast all the way to Chesterfield County in SC .
To put this into perspective, it would take some three hours or so to drive from one end to the other of this DMA.

If you're not in the circle, then no reception, closer to the edge the weaker the signal, although a larger dish may make up for some signal loss.

I do have a X1 mobile dish in RV so it is supposed to pick up E and W Sats.
Now to figure out how to use it.
When I power up 211Z tuner it asks for location but also A or B satellite selection I can get it to work with one or the other most of the time but it does not indicate E or W view just A or B selection.
Slow learner with 68 year old gray matter!

Now to figure out how to use it.

Did it come with an owner's manual?

According to the instructions http://www.winegard.com/help/images/1/15/Receiver_setup_x1.pdf the X1 is only Western Arc compatible.
