I've got a DishPro with a 522 receiver and my local channels were ok (35-40 signal strength) until 10 days after the 3 month warranty ran out!
It went from only getting my local channels in the day until about 1 hour after the sun went down, then nothing after a coupla weeks...
I went out and changed the Azimuth on my Dish (mounted on a pole) ever so slightly and was able to get enough of a signal to get my locals back... for a week then the same story as above!
I tried to move the Sat again, got enough of a signal for my locals in the day for 1 day and now nothing!
Having talked to the Dish Techs several times and been told that it has to be my switch (DP34), even though I ran the test and it tests OK everytime, and the other channels change fine with NO hesitation.
When my local channels start to go out the locals start getting blocky until they just go out and do the Satelite search thing until they can't find one to come in strong enough.
Question is, has anyone else has this problem and does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do to get a stronger signal on Satelite 105 (Transponder 11)???
There aren't any trees blocking in case anyone asks! ;)
Thanks in advance people!!!

Damn those trees never stop growing do they? Please step away from the dish and touch no dials... Grab the chainsaw and nub that jolly green giant to a stump, actually, winters just around the corner, everyone gets a good signal when the leaves are on the ground :)

I've got to disagree with Goaliebob on the signal strength of the 105. At least here in Ohio. Anything above a 55 is decent. But even a 35 - 40 is pretty weak. At that level, you're checkswitch matrix will probably show 105 as having only ODD or EVEN polarities most often; and consequently, you'll lose your channels all the time. No matter what, get a technician out of repeak that SD of yours

I talked to the Dishnetwork Tech and he told me that if they had to get someone out here to do anything it would cost me $100.00 right off the bat, not including fees for any hardware needed!!!
I'm trying to save some cash, especially if it's something I can do.
I've repointed the Dish several times, trying for an hour at a time to just repoint a little at a time.

You may have a heat sensitive lnb. Call DishNetwork and ask about their 5 dollar a month warranty plan. Could save you a few bucks.

Hmmm. A 3 month old install. I thought installs had a minimum 6 month warranty.

Did you order direct from Dish? If so, you'll have to fight.

If you ordered from your friendly neighborhood local retailer, they should cover you - it's in THEIR best interests to avoid a chargeback.

It was a direct DISH order...
I didn't however sign up for a year, so technically I could tell them to stick their Frakking equipment and order through DirecTV or an independant dealer if I wanted!
Alot of trouble to go through though, I'll check into the contract, I could have sworn it was a year warranty- even though DISH told me it was only a 3 month period, which doesn't sound right to me.
Another user metioned heat problems, which I can't agree with since it's been all kinds of temps here in Maryland during the day and night and hasn't played any part from what I can tell.
Last night I got in local channels until I went to bed around 3am, so who knows!

Where did you hear 6 months? 90 day installation warranty is what I've always heard. They will not charge back a retailer after 90 days; maybe they have changed the rules since 2003.

Install warranty is 90 days, hardware if leased is limited life time ( life time meaning the life of your service with dishnetwork ) warranty. The extended warranty DHPP runs $5.99 a month and will put your service call at $29 no ifs and or buts about it, you can also cancell it at any time.

Minimum signal should be %70, %55 is weak and will easily drop out in mild rain fall, I average in the high 80's on all of my superdish 121 installs here in michigan.

As for charge back to retailers they can do a charge back in some circumstances beyond 90 days.

Trees, mis-alignment, water in connectors, squirells/rodents eating the coax, loose connectors, etc. all can cause this.So can a failed component.

6 month warranty

Dish Network will chargeback $100.00 up to 180 days from the original install. They will give you first rights to resolve the problem before they send one of your techs.

Turned in the 522..Sad to see it go
