I don't understand why on the channel guide I have my local FOX which isn't in HD but then I see that that there is HD FOX but I can't watch the channel. Why is that?
The HD one in the 80's or 380's/390's is for distant networks, which basically just for areas that have no fox station available.
Getting HD Fox would be dependent on directv reaching an agreement with you local fox station. You could also do OTA. You can request a waiver to allow you to get the distant station, bu tyour local station has to approve it, and that is pretty rare.
I was just looking for Youngstown earlier ( in another thread), the local Fox is a Low Power one, suggested an OTA antenna and shooting for Pittsburgh or Cleveland.
Pittsburgh is about 60 miles away, Cleveland a little farther.
I shot out a waiver for the Youngstown Fox and got denied, so I have to get it through OTA and with an AM21 to record. The standard def for this channel on Direct is absolutely terrible, it looks like a blurry picture, HORRIBLE QUALITY. But the OTA feed of this same channel is excellent, if this is the market you are in, go for the OTA.
