I have not purchased a DIRECT TV package yet and I'm neck deep in questions. I was all set to do it and use the programming package in an RV or remote and I just learned that local channels are "spot beamed" and only available geographically. (I had thought that my locals would follow us wherever we went)

Also is it an absolute that you must have a phone line connected to receive NHL Center ice?

And if it is neccisary, we park at our vacation home for long periods, could I plug into any phone line other than the one on my home account?

HELP? :(

No locals are not national but spot beam as you stated.

No you don't need a phone line for NHL CI or anything else. If you want NHL CI subscribe you can do so online and your good to go. Without a phone line or network connections you can not order items like Pay-per View from the remote.

If you set up your account as if it is a home account, you won't get locals unless you are near home, but an RV account will get the locals from NY or LA, which are available nationally.

No phone line is required, even for the NHL package. Many customers without phone lines these days, and DirecTV knows that and doesn't bother them.
