Similarly, I'm sure racists don't want sh*t channels like BET in their home either!

In any case, LOGO is carried by Directv and most of the major cable companies, I don't see any mass defection or cancellations because of it (or anyone or their kids turning gay), I doubt DISH will be any different.. unless some key DISH decision makers have the same prejudiced mentality as Claude.

You are taking Claude's comments out of context. He said that he hoped that they didn't add it because he has had several customers that changed from D* to E* to get away from it. If they left E* because it was added there then it would hurt his bottom line.

How about making the station opt in like Playboy radio on Sirius?
Making the station al-la-carte like Bloomberg?
Putting the station in the 490 range?

Seriously regular old MTV is already half gay.

But we don't know the other side of the equation. How many customers would Dish (and possibly Claude) gain if Dish offered Logo? How may customers does Dish (and possibly Claude) lose to competitors by not offering Logo? I don't have a clue, but I don't think a few anectodal cases of customers fleeing Direct provide very much evidence.

Maybe programming at Dish is homophobic. A while back they dropped HERE! which they carried only as a PPV channel. Other carriers have it a a premium channel like Playboy TV.

Looking at their schedule, it doesn't appear that they run anything that compares to late-night Cinemax or HBO, much less the adult content in the 490 range. Not my choice of programming, but that's why I have a remote control.

Seriously, I don't understand why some people are actually against the carriage of certain channels. If you don't like them, don't watch them. Lock them out if they really offend you. That's what I did with all of the stupid home shopping channels. The "I don't want to pay for it" argument doesn't really hold much water, either. I don't watch a lot of the content that I pay for, but it's a package deal that's being marketed to a very broad audience in an attempt to extract as much money as possible.

Here is where your arguement doesn't hold water. If a company has to pay a large sum of money to carry a channel or a group of channels then that money has to be recovered by the company by increasing rates. So, if there was a bunch of money required to be paid for Logo then it does hold water. I have no clue if this is the case with this channel, but if so I personally don't want to pay for it as I won't watch it.

Replace Logo with BET and see if you'd make the same set of statements.

Doing any of the above is sending a message that gays are second-class citizens and sexual deviants.

Logo would never accept a deal like that. If Dish Network's management were actually for some reason biased against gays it would be far wiser for them to do nothing than invite the kind of media attention your suggestions would lead to.

I bet Jesus would watch Logo because he loves ALL people.

I agree. Shouldn't pass judgement on anyone.

I recently emailed ceo@echostar.com in regards to LOGO and CMT Pure Country, and the response I got was that Dish IS NOT in negotiations for these 2 channels at this time, but will be fowarded to the programming department.

For those who want it, this is bad news, and for those who are just plain judgemental who are complaining about it--be happy. Regardless, 1 sin is no greater than the other!!!!! No matter how you look at it. If gay people aren't bothering you, don't bother them-just don't judge them, they are no better or worse than you all. ;)

Sheesh, they could at LEAST be negotiating for the channel. I'm sure the costs of getting the channel would be offset by people remaining with Dish Network or those that go to DirecTV even though they really want Dish Network because they want LOGO.

But MTV changes formats of there channels so often LOGO may not be around in 3 or 4 years. They are know for rebranding. Take MTV for example, remember when they played videos? Remember when CMT played videos, and VH-1, remember Pop-Up Video or Behind the Music? And now, all we get is Flavor of Love and tons of repeats. LOGO has a lot of repeats too, I want the channel but I don't want the repeats, that is why I am 50/50 on getting MTV HD, watch it for 2 days and you will see the whole months programming.

By the way, if I'm a DISH stockholder, I'd be upset because Directv has been taking out 2 full-page color ads in various ads touting that Directv is the ONLY way to get Logo nationwide basis.

I also see smilar ads from Time Warner Cable bragging the fact that Logo just debuted on their systems.

Personally, if not for DISH's rich HDTV offerings and superior DVR's, I'd be a Directv customer right now!

Wow

Why do gay people hate to be stereotyped as "gay" but then demand some stupid channel that does just that?

Now there's a great comment Juan.

Why do providers "waste" multiple channel slots on the rediculous black and gospel channels, huh? They're much more rediculous than Logo.

And Scott (don't want to correct the master!!) :D - Logo shows NOTHING that is on MTV or VH1. It's a blend of their own programming, some funny comedy shows, and movies.

If you're gay - it's actually a funny / interesting blend of stuff.

And, if I was black - I probably would watch more of those gospel channels, but, i'm not - so I don't. Just as those that aren't gay - wouldn't watch Logo.

FIOS TV carries both Logo and here! - although here! is a $7.95 full-time channel - something DISH never did when they had them as a weak $3.95 PPV station.

DISH worries too much about their bible-thumping small-town customers that might get upset by the addition of a current-times channel. That's all.

IF DISH worried about Bible thumpers they wouldn't have so many STraight PORN channels. They just added a bunch of new ones recently to the line up: 486 jenna, 487 teez, 492, xcess to go with TEn,Extasy,Eclips and Playboy in both English and Spanish. Also there are payper views not labeled as such on 481,482,483,484.

**The funny thing is DISH seems to have no problem showing Lesbian scenes of sex , just man on man. Right now you can watch Girl on Girl 1 & 2 DF ( all day ) on ppv 483.

If Charlie thinks ithe channel will make him money he will add it . If the channel is too expensive(ie YES network) he wont add it.... its that simple
