I am a N.Y transplant living in R.I. I am interested in what kind of set up I would need to get FTA signal from local N.Y stations in HD. Is it possible to watch N.Y football teams in HD over FTA in R.I? What would be my options to try this. Newbie willing to try anything for a taste of home. Thanks.

I don't know of any static HD channels FTA wise for New York area. But if you get a receiver with a good blind scan, stuff pops up all the time.

If you can put up a big C-band dish, you could pick up the carribean feeds for the US networks. I've heard that they are mostly a re-broadcast of the NY channels, so it's possible that the CBS and FOX channels would have NY teams. On the downside, you probably wouldn't get NY news, and I don't think these channels are high-def.
