have dish 500; one receiver is a dish 311; second is dv3 mpeg3 JVC when I turn off system at night, it loses satellite lock. have to manually point dish and enter satellite and trasnponder. works most of the time, til you change channels and then you have to do it again. This is the old dv3 that is losing lock; have signal strengths over 100 so doubt out of alignment. check switch is ok. suggestions?

Kbars,

When you state you turn it off at night, do you mean you use the remote to turn off the receiver, or are you in essence pulling the plug or shutting off a power strip the receiver is plugged into?

All Satellite receivers want to be connected to a power source at all times.

When you say you are manually pointing the Dish, I hope you mean you are not moving the actual Dish on your home everyday. Try doing a Check switch. If you have a Dish Pro Switch or LNBF its possible your older receiver does not properly support the switching protocols used by Dish Pro Switches/LNBF's.

With all that said, I would guess your older receiver is too long in the tooth and probably in need to being replaced in the near future.

Yes, turning off with remote. NOt adjusting the dish itself. Just going to the set up page and manually entering the dish and transponder numbers...even that sometimes wont' get a particular channel. Turned it on this morning and it was working...very frustrating when it doesn't
